Sierra Supply and Packaging opened for business in March of 1996. Larry Johnson, President, worked for a paper company in Georgia right out of college while Christie, his wife, worked for the Trane Company in Vidalia, Georgia. A few years later, Larry took a job with a paper company in Tyler, Texas and Christie taught in a local high school. When the company Larry worked for began to close operations in East Texas, Larry was left with few options. So, in order to continue to serve his customers, Larry and Christie decided to start a paper and packaging distribution business. Sierra Packaging opened for business with a small warehouse and a staff of two.
God opened doors and provided great customers and vendors for Sierra Packaging. After a short time, the business was moved to a larger warehouse. A delivery driver and additional sales reps were hired. Sierra Packaging kept growing. Once the business outgrew the second warehouse, a new facility was built at our current location on Highway 31, just west of Tyler. Now with a seasoned sales team and a great customer service/delivery team, we take care of customers all over the East Texas region.
In 2013, we added Supply to our name to express the diversity we now offer to our customers. Sierra Supply and Packaging now provides products for the entire facility. We carry jan/san, production, packaging, safety and office supplies—providing solutions from the front door to the loading dock.
